ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION • Enforcement strategy on reducing alcohol • related harm at the summer Costas in Spain • Alcohol use is a universal experience in Catalan society (94% - aged from 15 to 64). • One third of general population refers episodes of alcohol intoxication in the past year and 2,5% are risky drinkers (mainly males). • The level of risky drinkers increases from 10 to12% in young population (15-29). • Alcohol use is associated to cannabis,(37%) cocaine,(8,3%) and other substances. • Onset age is at 13,8 years old. • In students habitual consumption increases with age (from 32,9% at 14 years to 77,7% at18 years) as well as alcohol intoxication (11,3% at 14 years to 44,1% at 18 years). • Binge drinking is mostly present in youngest population 30,9% (14-18). 45,8% at 18 years. Significant gender differences between male (33,8%) and female (28%).
