Introduction and Methods Purpose • Determine where men who have sex with men (MSM) seek HIV prevention and sexual health services. • Identify characteristics associatedwith specific health-seeking behaviors. Methods • 339 MSM were surveyed in greater Pretoria, South Africa. • MSM were recruited by Respondent Driven Sampling (RDS). • RDSAT software generated population-based prevalence estimates (95% CIs).

Condom and Lubricant Use Condoms • Majority of MSM reported having anal sex with a man in the last 2 months (86%). • 20% had unprotected anal intercourse (insertive or receptive) in the last 2 months. • Over one-third (37%) experienced occasional problems with condoms breaking, tearing, or coming off in the last year. Lubricants • Over two-thirds (77% ) of MSM used a lubricant other than saliva during their last sexual experience with a male partner. • Majority of MSM reported using KY Jelly and other water-based lubricants (85%).

Discussion • There is strong need for improving HIV and STI services at both government and private health facilities. • Programs that aim to improve HIV testing should target younger MSM. • Internalized homophobia may be preventing disclosure of important sexual risk behaviorsto providers. • Providers need training to incorporate questions about sex with men so risk factors can appropriately be assessed. • Counseling should include correct condom usagefor preventing breakage and tearing during anal sex.
