  1. The 4th Field-Map International User Conference (18th – 21st September 2012) Using Field-Map CZETAX for Forest Management Planning in Czech Republic Presented by Ondřej Vybíral, Roman Zeman

Description of Příroda, Ltd. • Příroda, Ltd. was founded in 1995 • Příroda, Ltd. is one of the oldest forest surveying companies on the Czech market • Since the establishment the company has prepared forest management plans every year on forest surface between1 500 ha to 8 500 ha • In 2012 Příroda, Ltd. is preparing forest management plans for 59 500 ha of forest land (more or less 25 % of forest land surface where forest management plans are prepared in 2012 in Czech Republic)

Cooperation between IFER, Ltd. and Příroda, Ltd. • The main reason was fight of STK (Group of Forest Surveying Companies) against Příroda, Ltd. • One of the companies entered software company which provided the only software (TAX, LED, etc.) used for forest surveying in Czech Republic • After this step prices for Příroda, Ltd. tripled • We were forced to either pay 1 200 000 CZK (48 000 €) for a year lease of the SW or to find an alternative to this SW

Management of Příroda, Ltd. has decided to go its own way with a new SW, rather than be held to ransom • Management of the company made a market survey to see who can provide forest surveying SW and IFER, Ltd. was chosen as the best option for our needs • All institutions in Czech Republic (Ministry of Agriculture, Forest Management Institute, etc.) work with .XML (ISHULXML) data formats • Field-Map works on the basis of GIS • Field-Map works with .XML, .SHP etc. standards of data formats • Field-Map was the right choice for us to work with

  6. After this decision was taken, cooperation between IFER, Ltd. and Příroda, Ltd. started • All employees of IFER, Ltd. were highly professional and were prepared to solve our requirements in an extremely short time (problems were usually solved by the next day – overnight)

  7. User boundary of Field – Map for engineers working for Příroda, Ltd. • None of our employees worked with Field–Map before

  8. IFER, Ltd. prepared trainings sessions for all the future users of Field – Map before outdoor surveying was launched

  9. In cooperation with IFER, Ltd. we prepared materials almost identical to the ones used by forest planners all the years before

  10. Materials for outdoor surveying used by Příroda, Ltd. in 2012 : • Ortophotomaps (1-3 years old) with basic division into segments and forest details of the forest property (10 years old) • Old forest management booksfor each property (10 years old)
