Recruitment of Transfer Students • Take advantage of community colleges in your back yard. • Use Faculty to assist in your recruitment efforts. • Identify their preferred way to be recruited - specificity is key. • Scholarships & Financial Aid • Articulation Agreements BUILD RELATIONSHIPS!!!!
Transition of Transfer Students • Welcome! We’re so glad you are here! … at least we are acting like we are….now what…?? • Culture Change • Are inaccurate assumptions about transfer students influencing the culture of your campus?
Assumptions • 2-year transfers aren’t prepared for academic rigor of 4-year schools. • Transfer students don’t know what they want – can’t figure it out. • They’ve already been in college and don’t need help transitioning to their new environment. • Transfer students are not ‘our’ students. • Transfer students are more likely to leave – again.
