TRANQUIL FAMILIES PROJECT • It is a research-action project to prevent the consumption of psychoactive substances, approved and funded by the Instituto da Droga e da Toxicodepência (IDT, IP). • The main goal is to contribute to the adoption of good practice regarding prevention of psychoative substances consumption by providing assistance to families in situations of vulnerability. 7th EFTA Congress

TRANQUIL FAMILIES PROJECT 4 General Goals: I – To identify families at risk of vulnerability to psychoative substances consumption II – To promote individual, parental and family protective factors, through the implementation of the Strengthening Families Program (SFP) III – To promote adaptive family processes to manage situations of potential risk through Systemic Family Therapy (SFT) IV – To contribute to the adoption of good practice on prevention of psychoactive substances consumption 7th EFTA Congress

TRANQUIL FAMILIES PROJECT II – To promote individual, parental and family protective factors, through the implementation of the Strengthening Families Program (SFP)  SFP is a program of parental and family education developed in the early 80s by Prof. Karol Kumpfer (University of Utah, USA). 7th EFTA Congress  Aimed at families with children between 6 and 12 years old, the program seeks the development of parents, children and families skills.

TRANQUIL FAMILIES PROJECT II – To promote individual, parental and family protective factors, through the implementation of the Strengthening Families Program (SFP) IMPLEMENTATION AND STRUCTURE The program develops throughout 14 weekly sessions, with a 3 hour duration each, after-hours (from 7pm to 10pm), in groups of about 10 families. 7th EFTA Congress

TRANQUIL FAMILIES PROJECT IV – To contribute to the adoption of good practice on prevention of psychoactive substances consumption Two useful types of intervention for families with such characteristics! ✓ The importance of a strong investment in the families selection and screening; ✓ The need for an expanded multidisciplinary team as essential to the effectiveness of family interventions; ✓ Selective prevention evaluated scientifically should continue to be a bet for the future, as a way to raise standards of the interventions quality, in knowledge production and good practice validation. 7th EFTA Congress
