Seminar Schedule • Week 1 • Icebreaker • Scavenger hunt focusing on LCB resources • Discuss International Business and its importance • Week 2 • Interview workshop • Discuss events in International Business • Week 3 • Discuss concentration(s) • What classes students will take for _________ concentration(s) • Senior advisory session • Q & A session with seniors regarding academics, opportunities abroad, internships, and work • Assign students to “country groups” (2-3 students) • Week 4 • International education week • Group presentation on foreign country • International students must present on their country or region • Study Abroad students must present on their country of study • Week 5 • Speaker to give presentation on study abroad opportunities • Improv international business encounters • Week 6 • Cross-Cultural communication focus • Discuss cultural norms and how they must be respected • Signs of respect and disrespect • Importance of learning about customs before entering a country
Week 7 • Culinary culture night • Students are encouraged to bring in culinary dishes native to their assigned country (from week 4) • Students will discuss how the geography of that region has determined culture, food, language, religion, and industries of that region • Week 8 • Art and Entertainment focus • Discuss the cultural focus on art and entertainment in their assigned country • Week 9 • Discuss previous weeks • Recap the quarter • Complete seminar evaluation • Week 10 • Optional class • Facilitate study groups for Finals • No Final Exam
