Solving Inequalities solve like a normal. EXCEPT when you multiply or divide by a negative, you have to switch the inequality sign. -2x < 8 Ex: 9x + 4 < 12x − 11
Solve Proportions Cross Product also allows use to solve proportions 3(w+3) = 5(6) 3w+9 = 30 9x= 27(4) -9 -9 9x= 108 9 9 3w = 21 x = 12 3 = 3
Use Cross Product to solve Proportions 5(x+1) = 3(x+2) 5x+5 = 3x + 6 -5 -5 -3x -3x 2x = 1 2 = 2
Percent Problems Percent = part 100 whole At Clay High School, 434 students, or 35% of the students, play a sport. How many students does Clay High School have? 35x = 43400 434 35 = 35 35 x 100 x = 1240 Clay High School has 1240 students.
