  2. The Nile River . The Nile River is one of the greatest rivers in the world, which is located in Egypt, Africa. The Nile River is made up of freshwater, although its estuaries bring in some water from the ocean that it is connected to, the Mediterranean Sea. The types of organisms that can be found in the Nile River are things such as parasitic worms, alligators, crocodiles, lotus, papyrus, date and fig palms, and mulberry plants.

  3. The Nile River . The Nile River is one of the largest bodies of water. In fact it is the longest river in the world. The total area of the river is 3, 350, 000 km2. Can you believe that! The length of this river is extraordinary. It comes to a total of 6,695km. The Nile has numerous tributaries but its 2 most important ones are the White Nile and the Blue Nile. The Nile, along with its tributaries, runs through nine different countries.

  4. The Nile River . Throughout the Nile’s route, the width changes. For example, the largest width of the Nile is 7.5km. This is located in Edfy. The narrowest width of the Nile is 350m which is located in Silwa Gorge. What a difference! You may think that the Nile is a pretty deep river but to our surprise it is not. The depth ranges from 8-11 meters only. Lastly the volume of the river. I found 2 different types of volumes. There is no steady volume of the Nile River, but the volume of water that flows within the Nile is approximately 1659 metres per hour.

  5. Drainage Of the Nile . The Nile River is different from other rivers because of it’s drainage system. The unique thing about the Nile’s drainage is that the Atbara (it’s last tributary) becomes part of the river halfway to the sea, making the remaining part of the Nile that goes northwards to evaporate. With this drainage system, the Nile releases approximately 300 million cubic metres daily.

Did You Know? . • The Nile River has many tributaries, but it’s most important ones are called the Blue Nile and the White Nile • The Nile crosses into the Sahara desert • The true meaning of the river’s name comes from the Greek word, Neilos, which means “river valley” • The Nile Delta is an important part of the Nile. It covers 240km of the coastline and the length of it is 160km. • It’s the biggest river Delta in the world.
