COM Week has been a School of Communication tradition for over 25 years • Main events include: • Many different panel sessions, including “How to Get a Job”, “Social Media in Corporations”, “Communication Outside the Box”, and “Young Alumni Panel” • A Career Institute focusing on Education and  Opportunities for Communication Majors only • An Awards & Scholarships Luncheon where more than 130 people gather to recognize the best and the brightest students and alumni in the School of Communication Join us for COM Week 2011—March 21–25, 2011!

The Field Experiences program offers students the opportunity to take a step outside of the academic setting and apply what they have learned to a real world work environment while earning course credit.   6. COMM/LPH COMM Club - "Communication Opportunities for Majors an Minors" - Everyone who is a Com major or minor is welcome to join.   7. The Illinois State University Debate team participates in competitive debate against universities from throughout the nation. This year the debate team will travel to tournaments in New York, Michigan, Iowa, Ohio, Kansas, Missouri, Texas and possibly California. Every member of the debate team receives at least a small amount of scholarship money for participating on the team. Who can participate?   8. ISU Speech has the honor of being part of ISU Forensics, the oldest Registered Student Organization at Illinois State. The team travels the country September through April competing in public speaking and performance of literature - they have won nationals 6 times, boast 47 student champions and are currently ranked 3rd in the country. The team is the proud host of the 2011 National Forensic Association National Championship tournament in April. Who can participate? All students in all majors. No auditions necessary.   9. PRSSA PRSSA is the student-focused arm of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). ISU PRSSA provides members with professional development opportunities, hands-on public relations experience, networking opportunities, tours, speakers and national and regional conferences.   11. Students In the News Broadcasters Association SINBA is a student chapter of a statewide organization that has 250+ radio and TV broadcasters as members.   12. The Student Television Workshop produces entertaining programming -- talk shows, stand up comedy, sports shows, etc. We typically offer four to five weekly shows. By participating in the STW you gain experience running studio equipment, performing on camera, and producing programs Who Can Participate? Anyone!!   13. TV-10 has been producing a live newscast since 1974.   It goes on the Bloomington/Normal Cable System to more than 90,000 households. News crews cover campus and community events all day and night in the Fall and Spring semesters. Who Can Participate??
