  3. Kern County Library - History • Beale Memorial Library established in 1900 and Kern County Library established in 1911. • Serves a population of over 800,000. • Is a department of the County Of Kern and is governed by the Kern County Board of Supervisors.

  4. Service area • Kern County spans 8,141 square miles , an area almost as big as the state of Massachusetts. • There are four main regions in Kern County – • Bakersfield • Southern San Joaquin Valley towns • Mountains • Mojave Desert
