Garden Oaks Elementary • Traditional neighborhood school since 1932 • Montessori program 1994 – parents/district • 2008 arrival • Began Montessori administrator credential at Houston Montessori in summer 2009 • Enrolled in Endicott program that fall – completed program in Sept 2011 thesis Leadership for Public Montessori Schools – A Cosmological Perspective • Endicott address

Who are we? • Public school • 69% free and reduced lunch • 65% Hispanic, 10% African-American, 22% White and 3% Asian • 98% average daily attendance • 650 students • 20 Montessori (9 Children’s House, 8 Lower Elementary and 3 Upper Elementary) • 7 Traditional classrooms (1st – 5th) • Parents send their very best!

  7. Knotted Up Divide into groups of 6-10 people. Each group forms a tight circle, standing and facing each other. Everyone extends their hands into the circle and by intermingling their arms, grasps hands with other members of the group. Be sure that the two hands you are holding does not belong to the same person. The groups’ goal: untie the knot which results. Member of the group physically climb over/ under/ through each other’s arms to untie the knots.

  18. Cosmological leaders…. Personify the characteristics of leadership that are responsive to the needs of the global society and encourage all individuals in local environments to maximize personal potential as contributors to the greater cosmic forces of the universe.
