  2. The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader is the third book of Narnia Series by C.S Lewis. This book is based on the a long adventurous voyage of Prince Caspian, his party accompanied by Lucy Pevensie, Edmund Pevensie and their cousin Eustace Srubb. The Pevensies and Eustace are drawn into Narnia through a painting of a ship, hung on a wall of children’s room.

  3. The major characters from Narnia are Prince Caspian and Reepicheep. From the Man’s World, Lucy, Edmund and Eustace are the adventurers. It is Eustace’ visits to Narnia. The adventure is basically a long voyage on a Narnian ship “The Dawn Treader”.

  4. The Voyage is made in order to search the seven Lords of Narnia which were sent away by Caspian’s wicked uncle Miraz. The seven Lords were friends of Caspian’s Father, King Caspian. Their names were Lord Bern, the Lord Argoz, the Lord Revilian, the Lord Mavremorn, the Lord Octesian,the Lord Restimar and Lord Rhoop.

  5. Caspian is the Prince of Narnia and the leader of the Adventurers He is also known as Sea fearer and the Caspian navigator. He was given a sword by the seven brothers of the shuddering wood. He marries Ramandu's daughter. Brief Introduction of the Major Mharacters Prince Caspian:

  6. Edmund: • He is one of the dynamic characters of the story. • He has already visited Narnia twice. • He is wise, patient and understanding. He justifies Eustace’ behaviour in Narnia. • He tells Eustace’s that "you haven’t been as bad as I was in my first trip to Narnia".

  7. Lucy: • She is wise, patient and kindhearted. She is even nice to Eustace whom no one likes in the beginning. • She also has already visited Narnia. • She liked Reepicheep very much. • Her tools were a dagger and a healing cordial made from the juice of the fire-flowers that grow in the mountains of the sun.

  8. Eustace: • Eustace is a boy who is the most irritating in the beginning. • He discovers a hoard of dragon treasure, and falls asleep on it. • When he awakens ,he has been transformed into a dragon. • It is not until with the help of Aslan that his dragon skin is removed and he is transformed into a boy again.

  9. Reepicheep: • Reepicheep is a rat who behaves and talks like human beings. • Reepicheep appears to be the most daring chacter in the story. • He sails to the World’s end and is never seen in Narnia. • His tool was a rapier nearly as long as his tail.

  10. 1-The Picture In The Bedroom: • As the story starts, we come to know that Pavencies are living at their Uncle's house for their Parents have gone abroad. • The Pavencies were talking about a secrete land, Narnia where the have gone twice. • Eustace, cousin of Pavencies, comes there and starts making fun of their Fantasy Land .

  11. There is a picture of a ship hung on one of the walls. It is a strange picture from which the ship seems to be coming out. Pavencies tell Eustace that it is a Narnia Ship. Suddenly, the picture turns into a real scene-the waves are moving. The three children are drawn into the sea through the picture.

  12. The children are struggling in the sea and are taken on board of the Narnia Ship: The Dawn Treader. There is Prince Caspian and the party on board. The save the three children and bring them in the ship. The Pavencies are amazed to find Caspian there and happily joins them. However, Eustace is very much annoyed.

  13. The adventure begins when the ship sails towards the Lone islands in search of the Seven Lords. Eustace was feeling very uncomfortable because he gets sea sick. The ship they are traveling, is named “The Dawn Treader”

  14. The Lone Island: • They sail towards the Lone Islands andlands on the Island. • Caspian and his fellows and his fellows are caught and enslaved by about seven rouges. • The slave merchants take them to Narrow Heaven to sell them. • Caspian is purchased by a kind old man who turns to be Lord Bern. • Caspian is told that the Governor of the Lone Islands supports the slave merchants.

  15. What Caspian Did Over There: • Caspian dismisses the Governor of the Lone Islands and Lord Bern is made the Governor. • Caspian frees his companions and the other slaves as well. • They stayed there for three weeks. • Then, they sail towards the east to find the other six Lords.

  16. The Storm And What Comes Of It: • The Party faces first storm, they run short of water and ration. • Eustace is always grumbling and blames everyone for the adversary. • The storm lasts for thirteen days and nights. • Finally, they reach a land and land on an the island. • The whole place is silent. It is not a country that welcomed visitors

  17. The Adventures Of Eustace: • On they Island, the voyagers have to work a lot-repair the ship, refill their bins with food and replenish the cans of water etc. • Eustace escapes from there so that he does not have to work. • But, he loses his way and cannot get back. • In the valley, Eustace finds a cave, a Dragon’s cave.

  18. Eustace enters the cave to sleep for the night.There, he finds a hoard of gold and jewels. He is taken in by greed and wears a gold arm ring around one of his arms. He fills his pocket with gold and jewels and sleeps on the treasure. After some time, he wakes up as a dragon. The gold ring is tight around his arm and is hurting him a lot.

  19. Eustace is horrified to see himself in a pond of water. In his agony, he flies back to his felloes who taking him a dragon are going to kill him. When they reach near him, Lucy finds the dragon crying. After much speculation, they come to that the dragon was Eustace. Eustace has undergone a great change. He brings them food stuff, take them on his back to visit the Island and brings them a log for making the mast of the Dawn Treader.

  20. How The Adventure Ended: • Eustace suffers severely, both mentally and physically. • Finally, Aslan helps him to become a human being. • He asks Eustace to peel his skin off and later helps him turn into a boy again. • Eustace shares his experience with the Edmund and apologized for being a brat. • They realized afterwards that the gold arm ring Eutace wore belonged to Lord Octesian. • He must have died at the Dragon’s Island.

  21. Two Narrow Escapes: Everyone are cheerful as the Dawn Treader sails away from Dragon’s Island. On the way to the next Island, The Dawn Treader is attacked by a sea serpent. Everyone fights the Sea Serpent to his capacity. Eustace, now a changed boy, fights the sea Serpent dauntlessly. The sea Serpent is defeated and the Voyagers continue their Voyage.

  22. Some days after, they see a land. Caspian, Edmund, Lucy ,Eustace and Reepicheep land there. • They start to explore the place for food and water. • They find a pool and on the bottom there lay a life size figure of a man, made up of gold. • They concluded that the body is of Lord Restimer who must have died in an attempt to drink water from the pool.

  23. They could not remove the body from there for the water changed everything into gold. Caspian himself has a narrow escape from drinking the water. They name the Island as ‘Deathwater Island’ and leave the land.

  24. The Island Of Voices: • Then they sail to an Isalnd of strange creatures, invisible ones. • This is one of the most adventurous visit of the Pevensies. • As they land there, they hear thumping sounds and strange voices. • They come to know the invisible people. • The invisible creatures are Dufflepuds. • They want Lucy to undo the spell by which the magician has made them invisible.

  25. The Magician's Book: • Lucy agrees to help them and goes to the Magician’s room to find the spell in the Magician’s book. • After much trail, she finds a spell to turn the invisibles to visibles. • When Lucy reads aloud the words, pictures started appearing. • In the end, she read the spell. She meets Aslan and the Magician there. • The Magician tells her that 7 years back three Lords, Revilian, Argoze and Mavramorn came on the Island.

  26. The Dufflepuds Made Happy: • The strange creatures are called Dufflepuds becausethey are three feet high with single leg. They are very funny and duffers. • They are very happy at becoming visible and celebrated their freedom from invisibility. • Before heading further, Drinian shows an exact account of their adventures. • The magician mends the stern of the Dawn Treader which has been damaged by the sea serpent.

  27. The Dark Island: • Then ,they reach a strange region where there is sheer darkness. They enter the darkness at the insistence of Reepicheep. • Suddenly from somewhere there comes a cry, some human voice. • It is an old man who is shouting for help. He is pulled up on the ship. • The wild looking man turns up to be Lord Rhoop. • He tells them that they are in the region where dreams come true.

  28. Everyone on the ship starts hearing different voices. • They are not able to get out of the darkness. • Lucy asks help from Aslan and feels confident. • After sometime Rynelf finds a tiny speck of light ahead. • Aslan makes for them the path to get out of the island.

  29. The Three Sleepers: • After sailing for several days, the reach another Island. • On this island they find a long table full of every kind of food. • Three men are asleep at the table, It seems they are asleep for years. • They are ,infact,Lord Revilian, Lord Argoze and Lord Mavramorn. • At night, from the slope of low hill, a door opens and a figure comes out.

  30. The Three Sleepers: • She is a very beautiful girl. • She asks them to eat the meal but no one dares to eat. • They fear they will also go to sleep forever like the three sleepers. • The girl tells them that these three men came over there seven years ago. • The quarreled with each other over a matter. • One of them picked the knife of stone still lying on the table.

  31. Beginning Of The End Of The World: • It was not right thing for them to touch the Knife. So, deep sleep fell upon them. • And till the enchantment is undone they will never wake up. • They eat meal after they are convinced that the meal will not harm them. Afterwards, they come to know that it is Aslan’s Table. • Caspian asks the girl how to break the enchantment. She tells her Father will tell them. • The girl’s father, Ramandu, a Retired Star appears there.

  32. The Beginning Of The End Of The World: Ramandu tells them that to break the enchantment, they have to sail as far as possible and one of them has to go till the end of the world. • They have to leave someone there so Lord Rhoop is given oblivion and he also falls asleep with other lords. • At first, many of them do not want to go as the 7 Lords are already found. • But finally, all the sailors go to the world’s end except Pittencream who stays on the island of the Retired Star.

  33. The Wonders At The Last Sea: • The ship set sailing towards East.On the way, Reepicheep , Drinian and the two Pevensies notice the sea people. • After several days sailing, they reach a white lake which turns to be Lily Lake. • The ship sails several miles through the lake till the lake becomes so shallow that ship can go no more. • There is heated argument as who will go to the end of the Narnian Wold.

  34. The Wonders At The Last Sea: • Aslan tells Caspian that Edmund, Lucy, Eustaceand,Reepicheep will go to the end of the Narnian World. • Caspian does not want Reepicheep go. • They leave The Dawn Treader and star sailing in the little boat through Lily Lake. • They reach a place where boat cannot go further. There is a huge wave of water falling down. • Reepicheep paddles his coracle into the wave and flows down and is seen no more.

  35. The Wonders At The Last Sea: • Three children are left alone there. • They see a white lamb over there .Lucy asks the lamb a way to Aslan’s country. • The lamb changes to Aslan. • Aslan tells them that Edmund and Lucy will never come back to Narnia again. However, he does not tell if Eustace will also not come again. • Then Aslan makes an opening in the sky. And the thee children find themselves in their room.
