Volleyball Skills • Bump • Set • Underhand Serve
Steps for the Bump or Forearm Pass • Ready position with your knees bent and feet shoulder width apart • You bring your hands together by cupping one hand over the other • As you contact the ball with your forearms, your arms should be perfectly straight like a diving board
Steps for the Set • Stand in ready position facing your target • Form a triangle with your thumbs and pointer fingers • When you contact the ball extend your arms toward the ceiling
Steps for the Underhand Serve • Balance the ball in your opposite hand at waist level while keeping your non-dominant foot forward • Keep your elbow locked and arm straight • Keep your eyes focused on the ball • Swing your arm up and follow-through
Definition of Force • Force – how hard you hit the ball • Which player hit the ball with more force assuming the ball is as high as it will go?
Definition of Flight • Flight – the path of the ball in the air • Which picture shows the correct flight of the ball for the set?
Rules for a Volleyball Game • Rally scoring will be used • Games are played to 15 points (must win by 2 points) • Ball hits the line it is in • You have 3 hits to get the ball over the net • A player cannot hit the ball twice in a row
