The Conservancy of a Disciple 1 Peter 4:1-11
1 Therefore, since Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same resolve—because the One who suffered in the flesh has finished with sin — 2 in order to live the remaining time in the flesh, no longer for human desires, but for God’s will. 1 Peter 4:1-2
3 For there has already been enough time spent in doing the will of the pagans: carrying on in unrestrained behavior, evil desires, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, and lawless idolatry. 4 In regard to this, they are surprised that you don’t plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation—and they slander you. 1 Peter 4:3-4
5 They will give an account to the One who stands ready to judge the living and the dead. 6 For this reason the gospel was also preached to [those who are now] dead, so that, although they might be judged by men in the fleshly realm, they might live by God in the spiritual realm. 1 Peter 4:5-6
7 Now the end of all things is near; therefore, be clear-headed and disciplined for prayer. 8 Above all, keep your love for one another at full strength, since love covers a multitude of sins. 9 Be hospitable to one another without complaining. 1 Peter 4:7-9
10 Based on the gift they have received, everyone should use it to serve others, as good managers of the varied grace of God. 1 Peter 4:10
11 If anyone speaks, [his speech should be] like the oracles of God; if anyone serves, [his service should be] from the strength God provides, so that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To Him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:11

God trusts you with time (vs. 2-3) • To live our remaining time in this body for God’s will. • We are all given an appointed amount of time.
Use of our time: • Let’s say you attend every service: • 9:00 – 12:00 Sunday morning = 3 hours • 5:00 – 7:00 Sunday evening = 2 hours • 5:30 – 8:00 Wednesday evening = 2.5 hours
Use of our time: • Let’s say you attend every service – that totals 7.5 hours. • You spend one hour per day with the Lord in your private worship time = 7 hours. • That adds up to 14.5 hours; there are 9.5 hours remaining that you should give to God.
God trusts you with time (vs. 2-3) • To live our remaining time in this body for God’s will. • We are all given an appointed amount of time. • We are lacking in our conservancy in the area of time.
God trusts you with treasure (vs. 6, 10) • Gospel • We averaged 258 people in attendance in December of 2012. • We baptized 17 in 2012. • That means that 1 out of 15 people at Southside led someone to Christ.
God trusts you with treasure (vs. 6, 10) • Gospel • Grace • Goods
Bring the full 10 percent into the storehouse so that there may be food in My house. Test Me in this way,” says the Lord of Hosts. “See if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out a blessing for you without measure.” Malachi 3:10
Use of Goods: • Move the decimal point on place to the left to see what the OT says we should give to God. • We gave $408,281.61 in 2012 • We have about 125 families that attend. • According to OT giving requirements, we have an average FAMILY income of $32,662.53.
God trusts you with treasure (vs. 6, 10) • Gospel • Grace • Goods • We are lacking in our conservancy in the area of treasures.
God trusts you with talent (v. 11) • From speaking the truths of God to sweeping the floors God is to be glorified with your talent. • Because all glory and power belong to Him forever. • We are asking for many of you to formally unite with Southside today.

Therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1-2

[Jesus] told him, “You still lack one thing: sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow Me.” Luke 18:22
Stewardship is not about a tithe, 1/10, or 1/7.It is about giving Him everything.
