This music video transforms a party-themed song into a narrative about a girl who doesn't want to be at school, reflecting the growing disinterest in education among young people. It engages teenagers by resonating with their feelings about school and would be distributed on YouTube, VEVO, iTunes, and Google Play. The project improved production skills by emphasizing the significance of interpreting song meanings while integrating various technologies, such as Nikon and video cameras.

Critical Reflection: Here By: Olivia Eames
How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? My product challenges conventions because originally this song was about a girl who didn’t want to be at a party even though her friends were there. We changed the meaning of the song by making it into a girl who doesn’t want to be at school. Also we have a girl who looks like she doesn’t skip school. This music video represents the group of people that don’t want to be at school and do something about it. The issue here is that school is becoming something kids are not looking forward to anymore and are taking action to actually leave school.
How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text? My project engages with audiences because the audiences that would be watching this music video is teenagers. Teenagers can relate to my project because we changed the meaning to a girl not wanting to be at school. Most teenagers don’t want to at school so they can relate. This music video would be distributed on YouTube and VEVO. Maybe even Itunes and the Google Play store. This music
How did your production skills develop throughout this project? Throughout this project my production skills have improved. I learned that it takes more to make a music video than an opening scene to a movie. With a music video we have to look at the song for what means and not just the words. I also learned how to look at the video differently. For example, the song Here by Alessia Cara is about a girl who doesn’t want to be at a party, we changed it to a girl who doesn’t want to be at school. We looked at this song in a different perspective.
How did you integrate technologies in this project? We incorporated different technologies into this project. We used my Nikon camera for one or two scenes but than we used a real video camera to record the rest and in some parts you can tell the difference.
