Skills-competitions in Finland • FinnSkills 9 – Playful competition for the ninth graders. Three member teams of boys and girls compete in tasks requiring hand skills • Enhances the co-operation between the local comprehensive schools, educational institutes providing the vocational training and companies. • Helps students to find the right educational training and increases the number of those applying to vocational training, especially in less popular vocations.
Skills-competitions in Finland • FinnSkills – Competition in vocational skills for young top talents • Competitors must not be older than 20 in the year of the competition • Arranged by the educational institutes providing vocational training, in co-operation with the companies
Skills-competitions in Finland FinnSkills 2007: • 1050 students competed in 72 semifinals around the Finland, • FinnSkills Finals 2007 in Joensuu – 307 students competedin 37 different skills • 33 500 visitors during three days • FinnSkills 2008 in Espoo and 2009 in Vaasa
WorldSkills – International competition in vocational skills • The biggest international competition in vocational skills – Since the year 1950 • Arranged every other year • Competitors must not be older than 22 in the year of the competition • Competitors from 48 member countries • Approximately 45 competition skills, over 700 competitors, and 100 000 -250 000 in visitors during the four days of competition
WorldSkills – International competition in vocational skills • The international WorldSkills-organization grants country the right to arrange the competition • Finland has been attending the competitions since the year 1989 • WorldSkills 2005 Helsinki, WorldSkills 2007 Shizuoka, WorldSkills 2009 Calgary, WorldSkills 2011 London
WorldSkills 2005 Helsinki • 118 000 visitors • 42 559 visitors on Friday – the new record in the Helsinki Fair Centre 39 competition skills,5 demonstrations skills 696 competitors ja 636 experts, 38 member countries + Estonia and Russia
WorldSkills 2005 Helsinki • Best result of all times forthe Team Finland in the World Skills Competition • Team Finland was the fourth team in the competition, after Switzerland, Korea and Germany • 4 gold medals, 1 silver medals, 3 bronze medals and 17 diploms for Finland
International Abilympics • International competition in vocational skills for disabled ones, since the year 1981 • Takes place every fourth year • 7th time in the year 2007 in Shizuoka, Japan • Competitors from over 30 different countries • International Abilympic Federation (IAF) – grants the country right to arrange the competition • Finland joined IAF in 2005 and attends the competition for the first time in Japan 2007
EuroSkills 2008 • First European competition in vocational skills • 18th-20th of September, 2008 in The Netherlands – Ahoy Rotterdam • 700 – 750 competitors • Approx. 30 competition skills • Competitors from18 up to 27 years old
