  2. Target audience • Mainly used in the primary grades (K-5) • Can be used in grades 6-8, but not recommended • Not for use in high school • Exercises used mostly in grades 2, 3, 4, and 5

  3. Instructional Objectives • To show kids how to execute basic math operations • To develop student’s understanding of the operations • To enhance student’s learning through interactive lectures and examples

  4. Use of AAA Math • Show how to perform basic operations such as addition and subtraction of decimals • Reinforces the use of mental math with multiplying and dividing whole numbers • Gives a little head start on basic algebra with equations of 1 and 2 variables

  5. Strengths • Gives students the ability to interact with the concept • Helps to ease student’s fears of dealing with math • Gives students a visual example that can be used to put the operations into use

  6. Weaknesses • Can be very distracting to some students • Can be a little overwhelming to students just learning the concepts of math (i.e. 1st and 2nd graders) • Can hinder some student’s ability to grasp the core concepts

My thoughts • I think this is a good way to show students how to utilize the rules of math • I think it can be distracting for young kids to see all those graphics on the screen at once but the benefits outweigh the risks • Overall, this website is a good tool to use in the primary grades and can really help reinforce the core concepts and formulas for math
