Armenia is located on the continent of Asia. Its capital is Yerevan. It is part of the former Soviet Union. Armenians are mostly Christians. It is in the Caucasus Mountains and is landlocked with no access to the sea. Geography
Geography • The Nagorno-Karabakh region is part of Armenia and Azerbaijan. • They have been fighting over it for a long time. • Armenia now has control of the land. • Many Azeris had to move and are refugees. • Many Armenians are refugees too.
Politics • Azerbaijan feels like Nagorno-Karabahk is part of its country. • Armenia feels like it should be a part of their country since most of the people living there are Armenian. • The OSCE has been managing a cease-fire since 1994.
