Compiled from Bro. ZacPoonen’s Bible study materials Why do I fall?
No Fear of God No Faith in God’s seriousness about sin and God’s ability to keep me from falling No realization of the weakness of my flesh Not willing to arm myself to suffer in flesh Not pressing on towards perfection but satisfied 5 Reasons
I have no fear of God • Self Check: • When is there more possibility for me to fall? • when I am with a believer? Or • when I am alone (with God)? • If my answer is (b), even a believer enjoys a higher place than God. 1. No Fear of God
God is serious about sin • God shut Eden garden from Adam for 1 sin. God did not give him a second chance • God is interested and able to keep me from falling • If I were the only person who had sinned and it was only once, God would have still sent Jesus 2. No Faith
I don't realize the weakness of my flesh • Self Check: • When there is a temptation • Do I runaway? Or • Do I try to handle it? • If my answer is (b), I have not realized my weakness 3. No Realization
Self Check: • When there is a temptation • Do I cry for help from God? • If my answer is no, I have not realized my weakness • Prayer is a sign of realizing weakness • Even Jesus prayed all night … Contd
I am not willing to arm myself to suffer in flesh • Self Check: • Am I ready to suffer in flesh for even the smallest sin? • If my answer is no, well, Jesus did suffer • Jesus suffered in flesh until death for not sinning 4. Not Willing
I am not pressing on towards perfection but satisfied • Self Check: • Am I satisfied with what I have grown so far? • If my answer is yes, I cannot become like Jesus 5. Not pressing on
