  2. My notes on: France Location: France is located in West Europe Geographic Features: France is distinguished topographically by the four Hercynian Massifs. The Ardennes in the western area. The Vosges to the south. The Armorica which protects the Paris Basin to the west. Area: 549,183 Sq Km (212,041 Sq Mi) The Central Massif which separates the north and south of France. All of these massifs are made of granite, sandstone or shale. Climate: A continental climate is dominant, characterized by cold winters with frost, long periods of snow cover and warm summers with thunderstorms. Natural Resources: Coal, Iron, Oil and Natural Gas, Potatoes, Poultry, Timber, Uranium Agriculture: Barley, Cattle, Fruit and Vegetables, Grapes, Maize, Oats, Pigs, Potatoes, Poultry, Salt, Sheep, Sugar Beets, Wine, Wheat Interesting Facts: Official Name: French Republic Currency: The official currency is the Euro divided into100 cents Capital: Paris

  3. My Notes on: Brazil Location:Brazil is located in East Central South America and occupies nearly 50% of the South American Continent. Geographic Features:Brazil can be divided into four topographical zones. The densely forested northern lowlands which cover around 50% of the country's interior and contains the Amazon River Basin. The semiarid scrub lands of the northeast. The rugged hills and mountains mixed with rolling plains, to the central west and south. Climate:Brazil has a tropical and subtropical climate characterized by high temperatures and moderate to heavy rainfall.   4. My Notes on: California Location:Spanning hundreds of miles along America's Pacific coast Geographic Features:Third among the U.S. states in area, California has a differing topography. A series of low mountains known as the Coastal Ranges extend along the coast. Behind the coastal ranges in central California lies the great Central Valley, a long alluvial valley drained by the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers. In the southeast lie vast wastelands, notably the Mojave Desert, site of Joshua Tree National Park. Climate:The Coast Ranges receive heavy rainfall in the north, where the giant cathedral like redwood forests prevail, but the climate of these mountains is considerably drier in South California, and South of the Golden Gate no major rivers reach the ocean. Natural Resources:petroleum, natural gas, lumber, cement, sand, gravel Agriculture:carrots, lettuce, onions, broccoli, tomatoes, strawberries, and almonds.   5. My Notes on: Hawaii Location:Hawaii, 2,397 mi west-southwest of San Francisco, is a 1,523-mile chain of islets and eight main. Geographic Features:The Hawaiian Islands are of volcanic origin and are edged with coral reefs. The Northwestern Hawaiian Islands, consisting of uninhabited islets and excluding Midway , stretch more than 1,100 mi from Nihau to Kure. Abundant sunshine; expanses of lush green plants and gaily colored flowers; palm-fringed, coral beaches with rolling white surf; and cloud-covered volcanic peaks rising to majestic heights. Some of the world's largest active and inactive volcanoes are found on Hawaii and Maui; eruptions of the active volcanoes have provided spectacular displays, but their lava flows have occasionally caused great property damage. Climate:The temperature is mild.   6. My Notes on: Las Vegas Climate:Average temperature 66.3 degrees. Average yearly rainfall 4.13 inches. Average daily humidity 29 percent. 211.5 clear days annually, 82.4 partly cloudy days, 71.3 cloudy days. Economy: The primary drivers of the Las Vegas economy are tourism, gameing, and conventions, which in turn feed the retail and restaurant industries. Special landmark : DEATH VALLEY -- 135 miles from Las Vegas, 40 minutes by plane, lowest elevation on North American Continent at 280 feet below sea level.
