Additional database records By Ava Mason
Country Crisp One of my additional records was Country Crisp Cereal. I had to research information about this food, so that I could fill on all the information needed into my database. Some of these pieces of information I needed were the unit used for that group and the amount of fibre in each portion. The website I used to research the nutritional information was: http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-jordans-country-crisp-real-strawberries-i71135. The website is a calorie counting website, where you can find out how many calories, fats and other things are inside a type of food, such as Country Crisp. I inserted some of the nutritional information found, into the database. I researched and found out that the total amount of fat is 15.7g so, in my database I wrote 16, I rounded it up so that no decimals were used. I used the other parts of information and inserted them into the database, such as the amount of calories being 428.
Dairy Milk Chocolate bar To find the nutritional information for this type of food, I searched onto Google for the nutritional information of a Dairy Milk Bar. I found the same website I used before, which meant it was very easy for me to insert the information into the database, since I knew where it all would be. I found out that the unit used was grams, for all the amounts measured had grams at the end of the number. I also found out the amount of fibre is 1g, I found this out by looking at the amount of dietary fibre on Nutrition facts. The website I used is: http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-cadburys-dairy-milk-i100087
Activia yogurt I decided to look at the same calorie counting website for the last food, because it had been useful in the past. I researched the amount of fats, fibres and other amounts for Activia yogurt. I found the same nutrition facts format on the website, making it easier for me to insert the data into the database. Some of the information I inserted was the amount of calories, which I found out was 65. Also, I found out the amount of Carbohydrates was 9.8, I found that out from the total carbohydrate amount on the website. The link for the website I used is: http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-danone-activia-fat-free-vanilla-i129843
In conclusion I managed to easily research the information I needed, to find the different amounts of fats, fibres and other things used for my different food groups. I managed to do this using the same website for all three foods, making it less time consuming and easier to do. It was very easily formatted, therefore it was easy for me to find out what amount of fat or fibre was used for each food record.
Feedback and improvements My teachers and peers feedback, was to redo one of my food items, because two of them were in the same food group. This meant, I had to research another food item to add into my database. The one food item I could think of was a pickle. This was a good item because it was a vegetable, meaning I chose a variety of unhealthy and healthy food items. Also, I had not found a food item from this food group before, so I could use it for my database.
Pickles I managed to use the same website for pickles. Pickles, cucumber and dill have the same nutritional information, so it was easy for me to find. I inserted the information into the database easily, because I was very much considerate of the way the website lays out the information, making it easier for me to understand, which parts go into the database. The website I used was http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-pickles-cucumber-dill-i11937
