1 Jn. 2:1-5 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world…
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him…
But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
Introduction After becoming a Christian some people say, “I will never say that I am saved, until I get to heaven.” There are two extremes when it comes to the topic of the security of the believer:
1. It is impossible to fall from grace - a believer can never fall from grace
Gal. 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace
2 Pet. 2:20-22 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning…
For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them…
But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
2. Some Christians are always living in doubt – never sure “once saved – never saved” We sing “Blessed Assurance” and we can sing it in faith!
Jn. 8:32 “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” God gave us His truth that we might know it!
Eph. 3:4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ
1 Jn. 2:21 I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
Rom. 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
We know that when we obey parents we will not be punished! We should have the same confidence in God!
Ps. 103:13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
“It has always been important to be in the God appointed place at the God appointed time.” Ark House with blood on doorpost Did they know where they were?
2 Cor. 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Eph. 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Gal. 3:26-27 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Rom. 6:3-4 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
1 Jn. 5:11-13 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life…
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
We have hope Titus 1:2 “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began”
