  2. 1989-1990 • Blue-black-white flag was pulled up on the town of Pikk Herman • 23.08 - TheBaltic Way- on the 50th anniversary of Molotov-Ribbentrop pact about two million people joined hands and formed a 600km long chain fromTallinn-Riga-Vilnius • 15.05 - Theattacof Inter-Layer inToompea • 30.03 -Transmitionperiod was pronounced out, the goal of this action was to Reacquisit EstonianRepublic 1989 1990

  3. 1991 • 3.03- Thereferendum of Baltic States - "Do you want Estonia to be independent and to restore it´s independence?“ • 22.08- Soviet Union landing force´s armoured cars left Tallinn after a failed coupattempt • Estonia became a memberof UN

  4. 1992-1993 • Referendum-New constitution was accepted, Lennart Meri became president. As the first president of the re-indepent Estonia he had a huge role in developingEstonia´sunity as a countryand developing democracy inEstonia • Estonia became a full member of EuropeanCouncil 1992 1993

  5. 1994-1995 • BALTBAT creation agreement wassigned • Russian military left from Estonia through the Harbor of Paldiski. This occasion closes the chapter of the II world war in Estonian history and it will help Estonia tointergrateinto the family of the other worldnations • Estonia signedAssociatonAgreementwithEuropeanUnion • Estonian residents, whoweren’tmembersoftheRepublicof Estonia, must submitanapplicationtogetresidencepermit 1994 1995

  6. 1996-1997 • Lennart Meri was reelected as president. As a president he did a lot of things to introduce Estonia and helped stablilise democracy inEstonia • Startedarbitrationsbetween Estonia and NATO withpurpose Estonia willbethememberof NATO 1996 1997

  7. 1998-1999 • Started negotiations in order to join the European Union-joining the European Union will bring up our will and will create new opportunities to give our input in order to consolidate security inEurope • 16.08 - Baltic Defense College startedaction 1998 1999

  8. 2003 • Referendum, ThecitizensoftheRepublicof Estonia decidedthat Estonia willjointotheEuropeanUnion • Estonian´sEast border became the East-border to the European Union. • European Union brought red covers to EstonianPassports

  9. 2004 • Joining NATO • South border of Estonia is now kept under the supervision ofEstonia • Joining the European Union got it´s finalapproval • 01.05.2004- Estonia joined the European Union."This will keep us to survive as a nation, to keep our culture and maintan our language through the out time, also to keep our economy developing." • Estonian Army went toIrak, Afganistan

  10. 2005-2007 • 18.05.2005- WassignedEstonian-Russianborder’sagreement • 8.11.2007- TheGreencard was given to Estonia with joining the Schengen Union
