  1. Building Services Summer 2018 Update August 23, 2018

  2. The Department is responsible for the School Division's 25 schools and two service facilities. That is over 2.3 million square feet and 631 acres. Department Overview Maintenance Custodial Environmental Management Capital Improvement Program

  3. Over 40 employees of the Buildings & Grounds Department worked on various tasks including: • Mowing/grounds • Moving furniture • Assisting contractors • Carpentry work • Electrical work • Mechanical work • Plumbing work Maintenance

  4. Over 140 Employees Detailed cleaning of ALL schools, ceiling to floor. Floor refinishing Provide services for numerous summer programs, camps, and community building rentals. Custodial Work

  5. Special Projects

  6. Security Shades • Installed shades on windows throughout the county schools for added security and safety.

  7. New low flow toilets and LED lightings are being installed throughout the county schools to reduce energy use. The project is funded by the savings the county will receive on energy bills. Lighting and Plumbing Upgrades

  8. A new facility was rented and remodeled to accommodate students for Albemarle Tech, a pilot for the new high school center concept Albemarle TechCenter for Creativity and Innovation

  9. Mobile classrooms were moved from Woodbrook to Brownsville for enrollment growth. Mobile Classroom Relocation

  13. Modernized 7 science labs and 8 classrooms Albemarle High School Renovations

  14. Modernize 4 science labs and 2 classrooms Burley Middle School Renovations

  15. Modernized 4 science rooms and 2 classrooms Security addition scheduled for completion in February 2019 Henley Middle School Renovations

  16. Renovation to create secure entrance and reprogramed existing office space into a collaborative learning space. Murray High School Renovation

  17. Scottsville Elementary School Security Addition

  18. Modernize 4 Science labs, 2 classrooms and media center Sutherland Middle School Renovations

  19. 10,000 sf science addition to be completed Summer 2019. Interior renovations to include science labs and industrial arts were completed this summer. Western Albemarle High School Addition and Renovations

  20. 2 classroom additions, new gym and renovations to the entire school. Expanded parking and new bus loop. Woodbrook Elementary SchoolAddition/Renovation

  21. Furniture Upgrades • Modern furnishings for 13 Elementary Schools and 2 High Schools. • Total number of classrooms is 92.

  22. Maintenance Projects

  23. Roofs were replaced at: • Henley • Jouett • Murray Elem • Red Hill • Scottsville • 220,000 Sq.ft. • ~5. Acres Roof Replacements

  24. New hoods and AC units were installed at Walton and Hollymead to improve kitchen safety and efficiency. Kitchen Hood and AC Replacement

  25. Air handling units were upgraded at Burley and Crozet with new controls for better management. Air Handling Unit Upgrades

  26. New chillers were installed at Sutherland and Stony Point to improve air conditioning. Chiller Upgrades

  27. New sewer pumping stations were installed at Jouett and Greer to replace aging equipment. Jouett and Greer Pumping Stations

  28. Elevators were upgraded at both Albemarle and Western Albemarle High School to replace equipment that exceeded it’s useful life. Elevator Upgrades

  29. A new Switchgear was installed at Henley to replace equipment that exceeded it’s useful life. Henley Switchgear

  30. A new ramp was installed at Walton Middle School to improve access for disabled students, staff and visitors. Walton ADA Improvements

  31. Various painting and flooring improvements were done throughout the county schools. Summer Painting and Flooring
