OGUN STATE - Facts & Figures • Created in February, 1976 • Estimated population of some 5 million people • Agriculture is the mainstay of the people • State is proximal to Lagos and gateway to South-East, North of Nigeria and Republic of Benin • Encompasses Rivers, Lagoons, Ocean front • Possesses immense developmental potential

Facts & Figures • Ogun state is an entry point for merchandise imports from Republic of Benin, and so accounts for a significant portion of Customs revenue in the Country • It has the highest number of universities in the country • 1 Federal University • 2 State universities • 5 private Universities

  5. Drivers for Economic Growth • Creation of the Trade & Investment Department • Establishment of a One-Stop Shop for prospective investors • Launching of the State Security Trust Fund • Rebates on Land Purchase – up to 80%

  6. Impacts of New Measures • One-Stop Shop has reduced bureaucratic bottlenecks for investors • Necessary permits/licences are quickly approved with right documentation • Enforcement of property rights/Rule of law • Safer and enabling environment

Incentives • Incentive strategies in place to attract genuine investors include: • Provision of institutional support and relevant infrastructure • Re-energizing existing agricultural hubs and creation new ones in the state • Re-engineering effort towards improved steady electricity supply • Open door policy of the government • Provision of suitable land in designated urban and rural areas
