Please remember that we have library on Thursday’s. Please remind your child that they should bring their library books with them every Thursday in order to get a new one. Also, please remember that we have PE on Tuesdays and Fridays and that your child should wear or bring gym shoes those days. • This week we continued our unit with plants as the main focus. We read a lot of books that helped us figure out an author’s purpose, we wrote expository texts and we worked on the long and short vowel sounds. The books that helped us with some of these skills were: • Seed Secrets • Let’s go to a National Park • The Talking Vegetables • The Apple Pie Tree • Seeds, Seeds, Seeds! • How a Tree Grow • We also added new vocabulary words and new sight words this week. Our sight word list, which is not over 30, includes “here” and “was” now. Our new vocabulary words that were added this week were: moist, necessary, seed, observe and gradually. Remember that the vocabulary words are meant to improve their children’s oral vocabulary skills. Math Madness Upcoming Dates This week we worked A LOT with 3D shapes. The shapes that we concentrated on were: cones, pyramids, cubes, cylinders, rectangular prisms and spheres.
