Traffic Calming • Goal: Create a safer, more pedestrian friendly Howard-Armenia corridor that will also help stimulate business district revitalization. • Started with 2-way request. • Evolved into traffic calming. • Results oriented. • Plan in the next 60 days. • Funding in 2006-2007 • Construction of improvements in 2007.

  3. Transit Plan • Consensus item – everyone wants more and better transit. • Linking together downtown and Westshore. • 200,000 jobs, two major malls, TIA, three major sports venues, areas largest PAC, UT, HCC, and grid system. • Frequent service, longer hours, strong east-west corridors. • Develop plan by 6/1/06. • Find funding and implement ASAP.

  4. Land Use • Overlay District Very good start. BUT…. • Land use densities are not appropriate for emerging urban area. • Residential design standards are insufficient. • Commercial. Standards may not meet economic realities. • Parking major issue. • Mixed use poorly addressed and not promoted. • Lack of affordable housing incentives. • TOD non-existent. Needs to connect to transit plan.

  5. Land Use • Solicit suggestions for change and develop recommendations by May ‘06. • Take recommendations to Overlay Committee. • Take recommendations to Tampa City Council summer ’06.
