  2. Signs and Symptoms of the Depressive Episode Sadness. Loneliness. Problems concentrating. Anxiety. Shyness. Self-loathing, apathy, or indifference. Depersonalization. Chronic pain(with or without a known cause) Guilt. Anger. Lack of motivation. Irritability. Isolation or hopelessness. Morbid suicidal ideation. Disturbances in sleep and appetite. Fatigue and loss of interest in usually enjoyable activities.

  3. Signs and Symptoms of the Manic Episode Increase in energy. Aggressive, intolerant, or intrusive behavior. Decreased need for sleep. Low attention span. Substance abuse. Particularly alcohol or other depressants, cocaine, and other stimulants, or sleeping pills. Easily distracted. Severe anxiety. Feeling out of control or unstoppable, or as if they have been “chosen” And are “on a special mission” or have other grandiose or delusional ideas.

  4. Medications/solutions/what not to take. Avoid anti-depressants as they can trigger a manic episode and make the bipolar disorder worse. Take advantage of natural mood stabilizers, your lifestyle has an impact on your symptoms. Treatment for bipolar mania may include lithium, anticonvulsants, antipsychotics, and benzodiazepines.
