  3. Line- Some examples of line are straight, zigzag, contour, and organic, but the types of line you can create are endless • John Lennon

  4. Shape- They come in a variety of types and sizes. Organic shapes, geometric shapes. • Wassily Kandinsky

  5. Color- Can be bright, dull, dark, or light. Review warm, cool, primary, secondary, and complementary. • Vincent Van Gogh

  6. Value- Refers to dark and light in a painting or drawing. Review gray scale. • Chuck Norris by atomiccircus

  7. Form- Is three-dimensional, and takes up space • MC Escher

  8. Texture- is how a surface of something feels or looks. Implied texture vs. actual texture

  9. Space- Exists around us. We use illusions to make space in art. This example is outer space. The planets are bigger the closer they are to you and smaller the farther away they are. They also overlap which shows space.

  11. Balance- is the comfortable arrangement of things in art. • Leonardo da Vinci

  12. Contrast- is the difference between elements in an artwork • Example of a journal entry

  13. Emphasis- is the creation of a focal area in a work of art.

  14. Movement- is how we get around in an artwork Jackson Pollock

  15. Pattern- decorates surfaces with planned, repeated units.

  16. Rhythm- is the repetition of shapes, lines, and forms

  17. Unity- means that all is in harmony, Variety adds interest.
