  3. MARC? ISBD? • Encoding and display not part of RDA: • MARC for now and immediate future • ISBD for now -- but a Program for Cooperative Cataloging group is considering abandoning ISBD punctuation

Impact on reference service and OPAC • Regardless of RDA implementation decision • Just some of the issues involved: • labels used in OPAC displays • placement of new MARC fields • changes in searching strategies • non-collocation of 1XX, 240, 7XX until non-RDA records updated • non-collocation when more than three creators: 1XX in RDA records and no 1XX in non-RDA records • explanations for users
