  2. Questions • The british and the French are fighting the germans. Who do you think will win?

September 17–25, 1944 • Operation Market Garden took place from September 17th to the 25th in 1944. this battle was fought in Germany and the Netherlands, and has been named the largest airborne operation of all time. • Paratroopers were dropped in the Netherlands to secure key bridges and towns. They landed some distance from their targets and were ambushed by the 9th and 10th SS Panzer division.

  4. But it failed • Meanwhile, the British couldn’t advance north as quickly as they had first planned. They also failed to relieve the airborne troops according to their schedule. • After approximately four days, the small remaining British forces were overwhelmed. The rest of the division were left trapped in a small pocket just north of the river. They did not have sufficiently enforced by the Poles or XXX corps when they arrived at the southern bank. • Nine days later, the British commander, Roy Urquhart ordered the remaining air forces to retreat.
