Backround of the project • Research results have proved that client-centred care gives many positive outputs: • Contributes considerably to client or patient recovery and positive outcomes • Reduces the stress of patients and significant others and enhances their general well-being as well as their satisfaction with health care services. • Client-centred care has also been proved to reduce work stress of health care professionals, improve occupational culture and increase their work satisfaction. • For this reason the health-care needs professionals with ability to work with client-centeredness skills • We need information on what kind of client-centeredess skills developes during the education, so that the health care professional of the future could respond to the challenges of the client-centered action as well as possible. In addition we need information of the possible methods that could be developed to advance and support the development of the client-centered know-how in the best possible way. Purpose of the project: This project aims to explore and develop the students' client-centeredness and examine the factors connected with it. Our project is a part of a larger project called: “Client-centeredness in adult intensive care, elderly care and health-care education“. The general objective of this international scientific project is the development of client-centred health care services in various areas of health care in Estonia and Finland
Description of different stages of the project At the first stage of the project there has been researched the students´ client-centeredness and the factors connected with it. Based on the results of this study the focuses of development will be named. (There is a poster about the research areas of the first stage at the exhibition-area.) At the second stage an intervention will be done to the focuses of development detected As a result of the intervention an action-model will be created, which helps to ensure the students´ client-centred know-how in the health-care education in Estonia and Finland. The results of the study/development work will be evaluated and the teaching-material etc. generated by the project, that hopefully is of further use elsewhere, will be productized.
