Explore Along with Us The Beautiful Ossabaw Island • Ossabaw Island has many different trees there is over a dozen trees such as an Oak Tree (Quercus Virginiana ), Pecan Tree (Carya ILLnoinensis), Loblolly pine Tree (Pinus taeda), White Cedar Tree (Tabebuiaheterophylla) Etc.
The Indigo Plant • The Indigo plant, also known as the (Indigofera tinctoria) this plant is also grown on Ossabaw Island It’s used to give a blue dye for the jeans, it’s also use medicine and other good stuff.
Sea Pickle Plant The sea pickle also known as the Sesuvium Portulacastrum is a commonly plant found in the marsh. This plant is very healthy, it requires vitamins and nutrients for our body.
The Donkeys Are Amazing There are only eight donkeys on Ossabaw Island they are very friendly and cool as you can see on this photo he’s similar to a horse but donkeys are smaller and has a shorter tail but there very interesting.
Ossabaw Alligators • Together, we learned Ossabaw is the only place besides China that we know has alligators, to our knowledge of course.
Black Racer Snake • The racer (Coluber constrictor priapus) is the only large, black snake in Ossabaw with smooth scales. Its chin, throat and jaw are white or gray and the belly is generally dark (gray, bluish, or black) from the throat back. Smooth scales give this snake a silky or satin-like appearance.
Thea • She was one of our fantastic instructors. Thea taught us about the horseshoe crab and other wonderful things.
Jim • Jim was another one of our instructor he basically taught us almost everything we’ve learned so far. He’s been fun since we’ve been here. Jim was such cool guy.
Ossabaw Island • We’ve learned a lot since we’ve been here. Also, hoping to come back someday to visit The End……
