What is manuscript transfer? • Transferring rejected manuscripts to another journal • Scientifically sound manuscripts • More suitable scope or interest level • Practice now widespread: BMJ, Nature, Neuroscience Peer Review Consortium
What are the benefits? • Authors want easier, faster publication in good journals • Reviewers are being asked to review for more and more journals, whilst having less time • Transferring a sound submitted manuscript to a more suitable journal saves time and effort
What is new? • Editors suggest transfers through the ‘Reject’ page • Authors accept/decline transfers in their ‘My’ pages with one click • Reviewers are notified when a manuscript is being transferred
What next? • New functionality available from June 2012 • Pilot roll-out: volunteers needed • Transfers is opt-out, based on journal and authors’ needs • Any queries? Contact your Journal Development Editor
