Athena. By: Jennifer Powell 4 th period Mrs. McClure. Origins. Zeus was warned by his grandmother that the Titaness Metis second child would be a boy strong enough to overthrow Zeus. So Zeus tricked Metis into a fly and swallowed her. Since she was immoral she didn’t die.

  2. Origins • Zeus was warned by his grandmother that the Titaness Metis second child would be a boy strong enough to overthrow Zeus. So Zeus tricked Metis into a fly and swallowed her. Since she was immoral she didn’t die. • He had a headache and had his son, Hephaestus spilt his head open. Athena, fully clothed in armor, leaped out of his head

  3. Athena is the Goddess of war, wisdom and the useful arts. The useful arts are weaving, farming, spinning, cooking, and playing music • She won the city Attica by giving an olive tree. • She was believed to have made ships and chariots • Also known as Minerva in Roman myths

  4. Athena was not quick to anger but turned Arachneinto a spider because she had said she was a better weaver than Athena • Encouraged others to fight wisely and for a good cause. • An owl is her symbol • She is one of twelve Olympians

  5. She is believed to have made rakes, plows, flutes, trumpets and the loom • She was the protector of heroes and often gave them advice or gifts to help them on quests
