Colossians 1:15-23 • 15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.   • 21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

  4. Starting the Journey Committing to the adventure of faith-filled following of Christ by seeking the Truth of God and Fullness of Life. Matthew 7:14 – Seek God with all your heart, you will find Him! • Seeking Adventure – All of us have two paths in our life journey • Finding the Launch – Choose the right path

  5. Jumping in the Raft Finding Jesus and fully surrendering to him by leaving everything behind for the greater treasure/value of knowing and loving God. Luke 5:28 – First follow, then ask questions! • Equipment – Arm yourself with the right tool to survive, the Holy Spirit • Safety Training – Use God’s word to be prepared for the adventure

  6. Following your Guide Immediately and consistently submitting to his will, work and word in your daily life because he knows the way and guides us in righteousness. Psalm 32:8 – Do what Jesus says! • Listening – God talks, be ready to listen because it’s important • Obeying – Act immediately, even when you don’t understand

  7. Application • Choose today which path you will follow. • Be totally in Christ with every decision that you make throughout each day. • Use the 2 question test: Does it glorify God? Does it serve my brother/sister? • Listen and act.

  9. Surviving the Dangers Meeting challenges and spiritual warfare while following Christ and learning to completely trust him in dangerous situations. Ephesians 6:12 – You are a soldier at war! • Fighting Crocodiles – Stand firm against opposition, it will come • Trusting, Not Testing – Push your limits to see God’s powerful work

  10. Serving in Unity Being content in life and sharing all things in the body of Christ to fulfill his global mission. Acts 4:32 – Called to help each other! • Contentment – Live extremely simple to be enormously generous • Sharing Lunch – Give holistically to whoever has need, proactively seek opportunities

  11. Enjoying the Risk Willing to take calculated risks for the sake of the gospel and serving the needy because of our secure eternal inheritance. Mark 8:35 – Lose your life for others, it’s not yours! • Helping the Weak – Be totally united in purpose and victory with all believers • Surfing the Rapids – Go with courage and hope, there is a great reward

  12. Application • Be confident in the work that Christ has accomplished. • Now live by His strength to do extraordinary things in your community and around the world. • Learn about the needs of the world and how you can be a part of God’s solution. • Find one place/area to concentrate your time and energy in service to Christ and others.

  14. Reaching the Destination Longing for the new city to come and total satisfaction in the presence of God forever. Hebrews 13:14 – Keep your eyes on Christ the King! • Party Time – Perfect fellowship in God’s presence • Video Show – See our lives for what they are now

  15. Psalm 73:23-26 Nothing I desire 23 Yet I am always with you;    you hold me by my right hand. 24 You guide me with your counsel,    and afterward you will take me into glory. 25 Whom have I in heaven but you?    And earth has nothing I desire besides you. 26 My flesh and my heart may fail,    but God is the strength of my heart    and my portion forever.

  16. Desire World: It doesn’t last/satisfy It is selfish It leads to destruction Christ: He remains forever and totally satisfies He is selfless He always leads to eternal life

  17. Application • Beexpectant of our eternal destiny. • Make Christ your ONE desire. • He is all satisfying and we will see His face. Live it now. • We must come to say, like the Psalmist, that there is nothing I desire besides you!
