Rule-1: A verb must agree with its subject in person and number • Examples: • James runs.—Singular • James and Anita run.—Plural • Is/was=singular are/were=plural • He is singing. They are singing. • He was singing. They were singing. • AM=singular. • I am tired.
Forms of BE, Have, and DO change form to agree with third person subjects. • Be Verbs= am, is, are, was, were, be, being, been, has, have, had (used as helpers too) • She has been sick. • They have arrived home. • Do they have a ride?
