  2. World Narrative - Setting • Single city – Northreach • Medieval Fantasy • Wider world caught in an Ice Age • Magical barrier is used to keep the keep the monsters away and warm the city.

  3. World Narrative - History • Technologists harnessed geothermal power and dismissed the old ways of ‘Magic’. • Over-reliance on this power destabilised the climate and caused the Ice Age. • Council of Mages outlawed this technology.

  4. World Narrative - Justification • Freytag’s analysis of ancient Greek and Shakespearean drama. • Uses the ‘Exposition’ in order to create a setting. • Does not encounter the latter stages of the model due to length of artefact

  5. Character Narrative - Rendon • Gameplay Oriented character – Warrior. • Member of the Town Guard. Lower rank than PC. • Resentful towards PC. • Scenario involves hunting bandits.

  6. Character Narrative - Helena • Gameplay Oriented character – Healer. • Member of the Town Guard. New Recruit. • Timid. • Scenario involves fighting a demon. PC attacks are ineffective until Helena casts a ‘buff’.

  7. Character Narrative - Helena Faithful Companion Common archetype found in various media. Examples: - Dog (Fable II) - Barney (Half Life series)

  8. Character Narrative – ‘Jake’ • ‘Control’ character. • Mercenary. Has an implied history but is not elaborated on. • Scenario involves observing his skills, or lack thereof.

  9. Character Narrative – ‘Jake’ Not justified by archetypes as he is the balanced ‘Control’ character. Does not adhere to the traits of any common archetype.

  10. Character Narrative – Samuel • Narrative Oriented character – Bard. • Travels from city to city learning history. Plays music to in order to earn coin. • Scenario involves escorting through a basement as he discovers and explains the relevance of interesting artefacts.

  11. Character Narrative - Samuel Wise Old Man Jungian Archetype Examples: - Obi-Wan Kenobi (Star Wars) - Merlin (Arthurian Legend)

  12. Character Narrative – Lauren • Narrative Oriented character – Love Interest. • Baker and childhood friend of PC. • Affectionate, caring and confident. • Scenario involves helping the character subdue a poltergeist and then talking to her for the remainder.

  13. Character Narrative - Lauren Love Interest Common Archetype in various media Examples: - Yuna (Final Fantasy X) - Leliana (Dragon Age: Origins)
