Yashpal Committee Report (1993) on Learning Without Burden …noted “… inadequate programs of teacher preparation lead to unsatisfactory quality of learning in schools. … the content of the program should be restructured to ensure its relevance to the changing needs of school education. The emphasis in these programs should be on enabling the trainees to acquire the ability for self learning and independent thinking”

Vision Of Teacher Education (NCF,2005) Teacher Education should become more sensitive to the demands of school system Teacher has to be responsive and sensitive to the - social context of education - diversities among learners - national and global concerns for achieving the goals of equity, parity and social justice for providing quality education to learners

Uniqueness in Indian Culture Multiple cultures, multiple-languages and multiple religions Substantial homogeneity in the way of life Strength in human and cultural values Basic acceptance and tolerance of different views India’s underlying unity, inner strength and capacity to respond to changes and its resilience are its major strengths

    6. Existing Diversity in Classrooms Individual differences in: general health vision & hearing acuity physical features language acquisition social interaction achievement levels and personal attributes
