What are logical consequences? • Logical consequences refer to the actions or responses that are implemented following a child’s inappropriate behavior that serve to discourage the child from engaging in the behavior
Teacher’s responsibilities • The teacher should present logical consequences as a choice. • The teacher should make sure the consequence is directly related to the behavior. • The teacher should state consequences calmly, clearly, and respectfully.
Student’s Responsibilities • Students should think rationally before making a decision. • Students should learn that their choices have consequences, whether positive or negative.
Logical consequences Pros Cons • Teaches child about responsibility. • Shows the child there is a reaction for each action whether positive or negative. • Creating a logical consequence can be difficult. • The outcome varies • Takes practice
