Efforts for ensuring effective coordination with related Line Departments for improving performance of Agriculture sector • Power : • Power lines have been generated to the farm houses for pumping of water from the near- • by rivers for cultivation of Rabi crops. • The one and only Oil Palm mill in the NE States has been connected with uninterrupted • Power supply • Irrigation: • Water Users Associations formed under all completed Minor Irrigation projects have been • utilized by Agriculture Department. • Culturable command area of 18,818 ha. is the net irrigated area in the state, Drip and • Sprinkler irrigation are promoted to improve on farm water use efficiency to reduce • wastage and increase water availability. • Fertilizers: • 3539.6 MT of Urea, 224 MT of DAP, 223.6 MT of MOP and 116.85 MT of SSP were procured • from fertilizer companies issued to the farmers covering and area of 1,26,901 ha. • Credit: • 40,099 farmers were assisted with Bank loan of Rs.33,199.28 lakh. • State Level Banker Committee Meetings for the State were held quarterly.
Post Harvest Management and Marketing support • Rice Mills are being established in partnership with private entrepreneurs to boost up • Rice production and offer financial security to the farmers. • Palm Oil Mill with a capacity of 5 MT per hour has been set up in partnership with • reliable private sector Company thus ensuring a steady income source for the farmers. • Godowns and storage structures have been constructed under RKVY at several places • to provide linkage between farms and markets for the farmers. • Market sheds are constructed under RKVY at the Roadsides and other convenient • places for the farmers to display and sell their produces without involving middlemen • thus maximizing profit for the farmers.
Future Strategy & Road Map for achieving higher production of food grains and Oilseeds • To transform agricultural practice from subsistence oriented to commercial enterprise and to make Agriculture a sustainable livelihood support thereby uplifting economy of the farming community. • To identify and target the types of Agriculture Commodities to be promoted based on local demand and prefernces and which markets to focus on. • To develop data base on genotypes of local crop varieties and identification of varieties suited to specific soil types, disease incidence etc. for different agro-climatic zones. • Ensuring timely supply of Agricultural Inputs.
Future Strategy & Road Map for achieving higher production of food grains and Oilseeds • Dissemination of improved Technology to farmers for increase production and productivity through demonstrations, trainings and exposure visits. • Promotion of Farm mechanization to increase farm power. • Diversification of Agriculture for higher farm income. • Improved seed replacement rate for higher crop production. • Enforcement of various Acts to ensure supply of quality inputs.
