  2. Overview of the System. • All students in the school have to be in our system • 50,000 books and recourses are available • We use the database to help search for books and Recourses. • Look at Student accounts – Books out, books to return • The Library is not Just BOOKS ON THE SHELF!!!!

  3. Tables Used and Fields • Fields • Student Name • Student Homeroom • Student Contact Email • Parents ID! • Title of Book • ISPN • Keywords • Author • Parents Name • Parents Content No • Parents Email • Tables • Students • Volunteers • Parents • Books!

  4. GUI Interface • This allows any user to access the information that is in the database system. • The GUI is made up of Navigation options most pages have simple to use buttons • The GUI links to the fields that are needed for the database to work.

  5. Reports (Outputs) • Reports on information from anypart of the system. • Books over due 1 week / 2 weeks • Books in Stock • Student and Homeroom lists • Available books in the library • Books Homes

  6. Advantages • All the information is easy to find. By the click of a button • We can see which books are out by which students – due to the fact the relationships make the tables talk to each other. • We can easy add in new users or new books

  7. Disadvantage • If the database is down – Paper has to be used during that time. • This means that the students details are wrote down, the ISBN of the book need to be wrote and details of a book for each book that is taken out of the library system. • Once the system is back online then it needs to be entered into Distany.

  8. If we didn’t have a database?? • Card Cataloge system – each book had 7 cards • Stored in a wooden box called a card cataloge. • Stamped books and Cards • Each day all cards need to be sorted for which are due or over view • To search for a book you would have to look through the card cataloge to make sure that it was in.
