  2. Signs and symptoms • Cough • Fatigue • Shortness of breath • Weight loss • Pain in the chest • Night sweats • Fever • Bloody mucus

  3. bacterial Tuberculosis is a bacterial infections. It can spread through the bloodstream into any organ in your body. Its most often found in lungs. Tuberculosis can be transmitted through the air. Active Tuberculosis disease can be fatal if left untreated.

  4. treatment Mantoux skin test also called a PPD test is taken. A small amount of liquid is injected under the top layer of skin on your arm. After two to three days, if its positive there will be a hard red welt where the injection was. An antibiotic called isoniazid can also be used if your infected but not yet active. This will stop it from becoming active.

  5. Incubation period It usually takes 2-12 weeks to develop symptoms of TB or show a positive PPD test. The infection itself can stay in your lungs for many years or decades.

  7. Contagious Yes tuberculosis is contagious within a few weeks of treatment with TB medicine. The only type of tuberculosis that is contagious is the active variety, when it affects the lungs. 

  8. vaccine • 3 in 10,000 people that get vaccinated had painful swelling under the arm. • Pregnant people, young children, people that are severely ill, and children with HIV should not get the vaccine. • People that are working in a medical facility should get the vaccine.
