How I got into Video (And why I can’t stick to one aspect of it) • Lego Movie Maker set started it all • Crazy Germans Productions • DMA Courses • Cinematography • Motion graphics • Editing • Sound Design • Effects and color correction
Programs used in the industryAs recommended by the lead editor at the Buffalo Sabres • Final Cut Pro Suite • (Final Cut X if BIG improvements are made) • Adobe Premiere Pro • Adobe After Effects • Adobe Illustrator • Adobe Photoshop • Autodesk Maya • Ableton Live • Celtx
Why I need to move • Average Salary of $57,000 • Jobs hard to get in area • Industry not prominent • Salary much smaller • locally as opposed • to CA or NYC • Greater potential • for growth into • personal company
New York, New York • Salary is almost doubled at $89,000 • Jobs are much easier to find • Heart of the industry, big city • Growth potential
California • Salary less than NYC at $74,000 • Great job opportunities • Burbank, CA • Warner Bros., NBC, Walt Disney, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, etc. • Los Angeles • Paramount Pictures, Columbia, Sony Entertainment, 20th Century Fox, etc.
Local Jobs • Sports: Buffalo Bills, Sabres, Bandits, Bisons (All are becoming in house) • Advertising: Crowley Webb, IBC Digital, Full Circle, Squeaky Wheel, etc. • News: Local Channels (2,4,7), Buffalo.com, etc. • Television/Film: Almost non-existent…
Conclusion • Film jobs are harder to find locally • NYC and CA are leaders in the industry • Downsides of living expense exceeded by job opportunities • Possible future with the Sabres • Attending grad school in NYC for my MFA in Film and Motion Graphics • http://www.vimeo.com/23875095
