  5. General Info • 101 is not required! • Go over much of 100 but other topics and exercises as well • One assignment per week, one case study, one debate

  7. Grading: • Each homework is 10 points • Case Study worth 40 points • Debate worth 30 points • 2 Quizzes each 10 points • Participation 20 points Discussion is worth 25% of your 100/101 grade

  8. Policies: • Allowed one late homework to be turned in by 4 on Friday for HALF CREDIT • If you are going to miss class, hand in work early - to my mailbox on 8th floor or to me directly • Assume you will miss class once - after that, half letter grade off your final discussion grade for each missed class

  11. Why Do We Care about Weather and Climate? • What to wear, flight delays (daily concerns) • Agriculture and Food Supply (hunger, food prices) • Injuries, Casualties (safety) • Property Damage, insurance (business)

  12. Examples of weather related questions: • Finding flood insurance for your home is difficult in some locations. Why? • Your plane is bouncing around, but the sky is clear. Why? • Tornadoes rarely happen in the Northeast. Why? • Coastal towns have more moderate weather. Why?
