Tackling the problem ASB Officer-duties was set up in February 2008-phone line and duty admin officer-Case monitoring systems ASB e-mail address and report inbox ASB Team began revising procedures 2009-2010- RDO G set up RDOG-visits to other social landlord 2010 Attending Bark Meetings- Animal Welfare, RSPCA, Police SNT 2012- began working with Dog’s Trust-Battersea Dog’s Trust July 2012 training day for staff- micro-chipping of dogs- Dogs in the community- Dog control orders-
Physical environment • Dog signage and waste bins • Dog control areas • Physical presence of ASB team patrols-uniform presence • Leaflet- ASB booklet and publicity engagement with dog owners and residents • Estate Services- reporting dog nuisance
Community Events • Dog Event Community Days 2012- Advice around dog health care- free vouchers- collars checked- neutering vouchers offered-dog agility classes-DVD- dog training- puppy training- litter bags and dog toys provided and RDOG pack • 67 Dogs micro-chipped- April September 2012 • Dog Event Community Days 2013 • 62 Dogs micro-chipped June- August 2013 • Further three events organised between autum season October- November 2013

Response to ASB Bill • To support government’s iniaitive on compusory micro-chipping 2016 • Tenancy Agreement needs to be revised- Pets policy • Cross-joint working with neighbouring RSL on sharing good practice • Advice- Education and Information- Community events- signage-bins- leaflets • Enforcement action taken as last resort after warning letter- ASB injunctions • Amendment to Dangerous Dogs Act 1991- dog out of control in public place-private property-Could lead to malicuis complaints-neighbour disputes- boundary areas • Dog Control Orders- keeping dogs on a lead- collar-clean up dog waste
Dog ASB Bill • Things to consider- ASB Bill on dangerous dogs- education and advice not mentioned in ASB Bill- • Enforcement- will have wider implications for local authorities to carryout when dealing with dog enforcement orders • Not enough trained professionals to enforce against owners-dogs off lead- Issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN) • Dog Control Orders- similar agreement such as RDOA • Who will be qualified to assess whether a dog is a Pit Bull type and whether pose as a dangerous dog
