  2. when • He lived through the time period of 1826-1866 • At14 he went to the gymnasium (a sort of prep school) at Hannover, and two years later switched to the gymnasium at Luneburg, where his great mathematical skills were noticed • In 1846 Riemann matriculated at Göttingen University

  3. where • Riemann was born in kingdom of Hannover, later part of Germany. His father was a Lutheran minister. • At an early age he showed an interest in history and mathematic. • He was encouraged by his family.

  4. why • He created Riemannian geometry orelliptical geometrywhich proved essential to Albert Einstein model of space time • He also taught principally at Gottingen

  5. interesting facts • Bernhard Riemann, as he was called, was the second of six children of a Protestant minister. • The children received their elementary education from their father, who was later assisted by a local teacher. • From Easter 1840 he attended the Lyceum in Hannover, where lie lived with his grandmother.
