Devotees who come to Maidi, the penance place of Baba Badbhag Singh, feel wonderful spirituality here. Baba Badbhag Singh had settled in this area after being enraged by the invasion of the Mughal invader Ahmed Shah Abdali. At that time this area was surrounded by dense forests and was a deserted area. When Ahmad Shah Abdali came to this area chasing Baba Ji, there was a terrible flood in Darshani Khad due to Baba Ji's glory. Which the Mughal soldiers could not cross and returned from there. It is said that a phantom spirit lived on a tree at this place, which used to harass the people passing by. Due to which the people of the area came to Baba ji and started urging him to get rid of that phantom soul. On the request of the people, Baba ji caught that phantom soul and locked it in a cage. The phantom soul belonged to Veer Nahar Singh ji and she started urging Baba ji to free him. On which Baba ji took a promise from him that he would never harass people in future and do good to the suffering people. Once when Baba ji was doing severe penance absorbed in the samadhi and his soul had gone to heaven, seeing Baba ji in the samadhi for several days, his family members considered him dead and offered his body to the fire. After a few days when Baba ji's soul came back, he started wandering here and there without finding his body. When his wife came to know about this, she Started pleading in front of Baba ji's soul. Then Baba Ji said that he should put a square of cow dung every day and he will remain with him until the square is dry. But the chauka started drying up every day, so one day his wife mixed some liquid in the cow dung and applied it, which did not dry for a long time. When Baba ji came to know about this, he was very angry and started leaving from there forever. On which his wife started crying after realizing her mistake. On this Baba Ji promised that he would definitely come here once in a year to do good to the suffering people. It is believed that Baba ji himself comes and marks the paw on the paw prasad that is distributed during the fair. At the same time, the devotees coming to the fair take a bath in the Darshani Khad and get the blessings of Baba ji. Every year lakhs of devotees from all over the country and abroad pay their respects during the fair. This time also around 15 lakh devotees are expected to visit the fair.
