  2. Adjectives • Adjectives modify nouns. They tell what kind, how many, which one. • As I was looking out at the water, I was reminded of the summers I spent at the lakes as a child. VS • As I was looking out at the calm,crystal blue water, I was reminded of the endless summers I spent at the lake as a young child.

  3. Adjectives • Adams City High School is a big place. • When I moved to Commerce City, I was happy. • I asked a girl on a date.

Adjectives • Adams City High School is a big place. • Adams City High School is a monstrous place. • When I moved to Commerce City, I was happy. • When I moved to the family oriented town of Commerce City, I was elated. • I asked a girl on a date. • I asked a beautiful girl on a romantic date.

  5. Let’s change these sentences • My teacher gave me homework. • The assignment was hard. • Pie is yummy.

  6. You change these sentences • The song is catchy. • The dog ate his food.

  7. Adverbs • Adverbs modify a verb. They tell you how something is done. • I strolledto class. • I strolled carelessly to class. • Their football team was slow. • Their football team was embarrassingly slow.
