Concorde Hotel Kuala LumpurCurrent Scenario • Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur is located in the Golden Triangle of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. • This area is the city’s business centre, shopping district and major tourist attractions are within walking distance. • Concorde Hotel had an existing wired network • However, the hotel management wanted to provide wireless hotspots within the hotel • The wireless access will be open to special hotel guests which provides added service especially for business clients • The hotel management also require the solution to be easy to managed through a unified solution

  3. Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur Requirements Setup a secure, high speed wireless network within the hotel with minimum disruption to the environment and guests. Wireless network must integrate into existing legacy network with minor customizations and be easy to setup to fit hotel requirement Wireless AP distributed throughout the hotel must be easily managed from a single console or device Challenges D-Link Face Rollout of a large number of APs in the 19 storey hotel premise with minimum disruption and noise to hotel guests and downtime. To reduce disruption of hotel service and ensure the service is available, the speed of deployment was critical Advance planning is needed to determine the placement of the APs to ensure coverage and signal strength is sufficient to penetrate walls into the each of the 500 guest rooms Hotel needed support as staff has no previous exposure to wireless technology. Hotel staff needed to be trained to support the solution. D-Link Malaysia Winning the Project and Solution Details • D-Link Malaysia won the project against 3Com • D-Link Malaysia won the project because of the following reasons: • Arrange equipment loan to Concorde Hotel to verify key features which allow the hotel management to gain confidence in the product • Willingness to work with client to understand their requirement and recommend the needed solution to the client • Solution recommended was better and less costly then competitor • Able to deliver and setup the solution in the time frame required by the client • D-Link local office provides a local presence and assurance to the client • Support for the customer with onsite site survey, AP planning and technical training for the customer • Solution Details
